At Rochester Phoenix Martial Arts, strength isn’t just about what happens on the mats—it’s about how we come together as a community to fight for something greater.

In our very first Tap Cancer Out Global Grappling Day last year, our team raised over $5,014 to support the fight against cancer. It was a powerful reminder that when we unite, we can make a real difference.

This year, for our 2nd Annual Global Grappling Day, we’re setting our sights even higher—with a fundraising goal of $7,000. Cancer has struck close to home in our RPMA family—Veronica’s battle with breast cancer, Alan’s fight against brain cancer, and Raquel’s inspiring “Stand Up Project” to raise awareness all remind us why this cause matters so deeply.

On event day, our adults will roll shoulder-to-shoulder in a 1-hour marathon roll, joining grapplers around the world in solidarity. Then, we’ll hand the spotlight to our kids with a special youth in-house tournament—a chance for the next generation of martial artists to compete, grow, and take part in this fight for something bigger than themselves.

Every roll, every match, and every tap is more than training—it’s a stand against cancer, a tribute to those we’ve lost, and hope for those still fighting.
